29 November 2007 The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirms the first indictment for crimes committed in Kalinovik area.
On November 28, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment against Ratko Bundalo, Nedjo Zeljaja and Djordjislav Askraba, who are charged with having committed crimes against humanity.
The four clauses of the indictment charge the three men with responsibility, as members of the Republika Srpska Army (VRS), for crimes committed against Bosniak civilians on the territory of Kalinovik municipality between April 1992 and March 1993.
Bundalo was commander of the Tactical Group in Kalinovik, Zeljaja was commander of the Public Safety Centre in Kalinovik, while Askraba was manager of the "Barutni magacin" detention camp. The indictment alleges that the three men "deliberately participated in a joint criminal enterprise", together with members of the Emergency and Wartime Headquarters and other members of the army and police on that territory.
The indictment describes the crimes committed against civilians from Jelec, in Foca municipality, Mjehovina, Jelasica, Vihovici and Jezero villages in Kalinovik municipality and villages located on the territory of Gacko municipality.
According to the indictment, the Prosecution intends to examine 80 witnesses and present more than 200 pieces of material evidence.
