A witness told the trial of five men accused of killings at Koricanske stijene that he saw indictee Dusan Jankovic among the policemen from Prijedor escorting a convoy which left Tukovi village and the Trnopolje detention camp in August 1992.
The indictment against Jankovic, Zoran Babic, Milorad Radakovic, Milorad Skrbic and Zeljko Stojnic alleges that 200 men from the convoy were shot at Koricanske stijene on Mount Vlasic on August 21, 1992.
It is alleged that Jankovic was commander of the Public Safety Station in Prijedor and the others were members of the Police Interventions Squad.
Witness Said Grabic said he was detained in Trnopolje, near Prijedor. “The convoy departed on August 21, 1992. Some men joined it. They did not survive,” Grabic said.
Grabic said he saw two buses with one soldier with a rifle in each.
“In the morning hours some men were permitted to get on the buses. I think that Kuduzovic, who was the detention camp manager, gave the permission. My neighbour Ejub Medic and his son-in-law Senad got on that bus. They are no longer alive. (...) Later on, Kuduzovic gathered us and informed us that some people were killed. This was all we knew,” the witness said.
He later left Trnopolje with help from the Red Cross in October 1992.
Grabic was arrested as he had failed to respond to a court summons to testify.
He said he thought he did not have to appear in court again because he had testified at another trial before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in May.
The next hearing will take place on August 30.
