28 June 2010 Six additional Prosecution witnesses and a court medical expert will be examined and 39 new pieces of material evidence will be presented at the trial of five indictees who are charged with war crimes committed at Koricanske stijene.
Following the completion of evidence presentation by the Defence teams, the Prosecution presented its proposal for the examination of additional witnesses, at a status conference. The Trial Chamber accepted the proposal.
"New witnesses have been identified by activities undertaken in the meantime, because, as you know, another trial is ongoing before this Court. In addition to this, a number of indictees have signed guilt admission agreements. After this indictment was filed, 56 new bodies were discovered," State Prosecutor Slavica Terzic said.
Zoran Babic, Milorad Radakovic, Milorad Skrbic, Dusan Jankovic and Zeljko Stojnic are charged with participation in the shooting of about 200 men at Koricanske stijene on Mount Vlasic on August 21, 1992.
The indictment states that Jankovic was Commander of the Public Safety Station in Prijedor and the other indictees were members of the First Police Interventions Squad at the time.
The same indictment originally covered Damir Ivankovic, Gordan Djuric and Ljubisa Cetic, who admitted guilt during the course of the trial. They were sentenced to 14, eight and 13 years in prison respectively.
The trial of Sasa Zecevic, Radoslav Knezevic, Petar Civcic, Marinko Ljepoja and Branko Topola is ongoing before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the same crime.
Terzic said the additional pieces of Prosecution material evidence were a response to the evidence presented by Dusan Jankovic's Defence. The Defence of the fourth indictee objected to the presentation of these pieces of evidence, arguing that they were simply a repetition of the evidence previously presented at this trial.
The trial is due to continue on July 5. The presentation of the additional Prosecution evidence will last until August 23, when the Defence will be given an opportunity to reply.
