10 March 2010 The State Prosecution files an indictment against Mensur Memic, Dzevad Salcin and Senad Hakalovic for war crimes committed in Trusina village, near Konjic, in 1993.
The unconfirmed indictment alleges that the three suspects participated, as members of the "Zulfikar" Special Squad and the "Neretvica" 45th Mountain Brigade with the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in capturing and shooting civilians and captured members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, in Trusina village on April 16, 1993.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina contends that, "during the course of a well planned and prepared attack against the civilian population of Trusina village, 18 civilians and four HVO soldiers, who had previously surrendered, were killed". The indictment alleges that four people, including two children, were wounded.
The State Prosecution charges Memic, Salcin and Hakalovic with war crimes against civilians and prisoners-of-war.
Nedzad Hodzic, Nihad Bojadzic, Jusuf Hadzalija and Zulfikar Alispago are suspected of the same crime, but the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina has still not completed an investigation against them. All the suspects, except Hadzalija and Hodzic, are in custody. Prohibiting measures were ordered against those two suspects.
Rasema Handanovic and Edin Dzeko, who are suspected of the same crime, are reported in the media to have been arrested in the US.
The indictment against Memic, Salcin and Hakalovic, as well as a custody extension motion, has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
