25 December 2009

The State Investigation and Protection Agency, SIPA said on Friday that yesterday`s search of the building of the state judicial institutions in Sarajevo showed that a bomb notification authorities had received was false.

Staff members returned to their offices in the morning hours on December 25. The police is trying to determine who made the false notification.

The building was evacuated at about 3 p.m. on Thursday. Most employees were evacuated within the next 15 minutes.

Chief Prosecutor Milorad Barasic, his security, his driver and one of his associates were present in the State Prosecution’s building while SIPA conducted the search. Despite the fact they were warned of the bomb threat, they did not want to leave the building.

“I do not know what I should be afraid of. They told me to leave the building, but I had work to do, so I stayed. Members of my security service, my driver and one associate stayed with me,” Barasin told Justice Report.

A bomb threat notification was made in March 2008 as well, but SIPA members said the notification was false and managed to locate the phone number and to find the person who made the call.
