Radio Justice Report
Almir Padalovic and Redzo Balic, who are suspected of war crimes against civilians, were arrested under a warrant issued by the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Padalovic is suspected, as a member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a guard in the "Celebici" detention camp, in Konjic Municipality, of having shot at detainee Zeljko Kliment and killed him at the end of July 1992.
The Prosecution suspects that Balic, a former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the murder of a Serb civilian and tortured a woman in Razici village.
The Prosecution says that these crimes were committed during the armed conflict between the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, on one side and the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Army on the other.
As announced by the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina the suspects will be examined later today. After that, the competent prosecutor will decide whether to file a custody order motion.
In 2003 the Hague Tribunal pronounced a second-instance verdict, sentencing Zdravko Mucic, former detention camp Commander, to nine years in prison, Hazim Delic, Deputy Commander who also performed the function of Commander for a certain period of time, to 18 years and Esad Landzo, a former guard, to 15 years in prison for crimes committed in "Celebici" detention camp.
The Hague Tribunal determined that the "Celebici" detention camp was formed by Bosnian Muslims and Croats in military barracks on the periphery of Celebici village, near Konjic, in mid 1992. The Chamber determined that detainees, who were held in the detention camp, were killed, tortured, sexually abused and mistreated in other ways.
