21 December 2009  Due to the illness and absence of indictee Zoran Babic, who was scheduled to testify for his Defence at today's hearing, the hearing has been postponed.

Slavica Bajic, Defence attorney of Babic, said the indictee was not feeling well, adding that, due to serious problems with his kidneys, he was not able to appear at the hearing.

Bajic told the court that she had spoken to her client in the morning and he had informed her that he would definitely not be able to attend the hearing today. "His doctors told me that Babic would be absent from the hearing scheduled for tomorrow as well," she said.

The State Prosecution charges Zoran Babic, Milorad Radakovic, Milorad Skrbic, Ljubisa Cetic, Dusan Jankovic and Zeljko Stojnic, former members of the Interventions Squad with the Public Safety Station in Prijedor, with having participated in escorting a convoy of more than 1,200 civilians who were being taken to Travnik to be exchanged on August 21, 1992.

The indictment alleges that about 200 men were separated from the rest of the group and shot at Koricanske stijene. Only 12 people survived the shooting.

The same indictment originally charged Damir Ivankovic and Gordan Djuric, who were sentenced to 14 and 8 years in prison respectively, after having admitted guilt.

Trial Chamber Chairwoman Minka Kreho said that the legal preconditions for holding the hearing today were not met due to the absence of the first indictee. She asked Babic's Defence attorney to provide the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina with all available medical documents as soon as possible.

As per the official schedule of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the next hearing is due to take place on January 11, 2010, when indictee Babic will testify for his Defence.
