04 December 2009 A hearing that was supposed to be held as part of the trial for genocide committed in Srebrenica in July 1995 was postponed due to technical problems with establishing the video link.
The Trial Chamber, sitting in the case of Radomir Vukovic and Zoran Tomic, postponed the hearing at which Robert Alexander Franken, a former Major with the Dutch Battalion stationed in Srebrenica in 1995, was due to testify via video link from the District Court at The Hague.
Trial Chamber Chairman Senadin Bektasevic explained that the hearing was postponed due to "technical problems".
The State Prosecution charges Vukovic and Tomic, former members of the Second Special Police Squad from Sekovici with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, with having participated in capturing and shooting about 1,000 Bosniaks in the Kravica Agricultural Cooperative premises on July 13, 1995.
Vukovic, also known as 'Vojvoda' ('The Duke'), has been held in custody since August 2008. Tomic, known as 'Zgembo', has been detained since June 2008. The trial began in December 2008.
The next hearing, at which another attempt will be made to examine witness Franken via video link, is due to take place on December 14 this year.

Dear Sir/Madam, The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has received from The Hague, Holland, a reaction to an article by BIRN Agency, which is available on the following link http:/www.bim.ba/en/195/10/24063/. The Article is about a trial hearing in the case Prosecutors Office of BiH vs. Radomir Vuković and Zoran Tomić, at which witness Robert Alexander Franken, former deputy UN Battalion Commander stationed in the protected area of Srebrenica was due to testify via video link. The reason for their reaction is as follows: - The Article reads that witness Franken was due to testify by using the facilities of the ICTY in The Hague, which is incorrect because this witness hearing was planned to take place by using the facilities of the local, District Court in the Hague and not the ICTY facilities. Because of this incorrect statement, you are kindly requested to publish this reaction on your web site. Respectfully, Boris Grubešić Head of Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH
