29 May 2009 Presentation of evidence at the trial of Momir Savic has been completed with the face-to-face testimony of a Prosecution and Defence witness, which took place in the court with no members of the public present.
As part of the presentation of additional evidence by the Prosecution, two witnesses who testified earlier were placed face to face. They had testified during the presentation of evidence against Momir Savic, former Commander of the Third Squad with the Visegrad Brigade of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, who is charged with crimes committed in Visegrad.
Presentation of evidence has now been completed. The Trial Chamber has ruled that the Prosecution will present its closing arguments on June 9. The Defence will present its closing arguments 16 days later.
At this hearing protected witness TB and Nada Milicevic faced each other. Considering the fact that they had both previously testified at closed sessions, today's session was also closed to the public.
"Since one of the two witnesses has protective measures, it is clear that we must still respect those measures," said Trial Chamber Chairman Saban Maksumic, excluding the public from the hearing.
The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina charges Momir Savic with having participated in the deportation and murder of civilians from Drinsko settlement in Visegrad Municipality in May 1992, as well as with shooting a group of civilians from Dusce village. He is also charged with having raped one person.
The trial began in August 2008.
