19 May 2009  Families of victims from Cajnice organize protests in Sarajevo, calling for those who committed crimes in their town to be brought to trial.

About thirty families of victims who were killed in Cajnice in May 1992 organized a protest in front of the judicial institutions building in Sarajevo, asking for help in finding the remains of their family members and
calling for those who were responsible for the crime to be brought to trial.

"If we could only find their remains...Nothing has been found until now. We think that they were killed. That is all," said Sajmija Kesan, who lost her brother-in-law and his two sons in 1992.

The families of victims claim that 17 years ago in the Hunting Lodge at Mostinje, in Cajnice Municipality, about one hundred civilians were killed. They say the victims were "captured and taken away for no reason at all".

"Most of those who were killed have still not been found, because their bodies were transferred from one location to another by trench diggers and other machines," said Muhidin Dizdar, adding that "nobody has been tried for this crime, although it is well known who performed the functions of military commanders and civil authorities at that time".

Dizdar says that "there were no military activities" in the Cajnice area. He claims that "the responsible individuals could have at least registered the perpetrators of the crime even if they did not try them".

Representatives of the families of victims organized the protest in front of the judicial institutions building in Sarajevo, requesting, among other things, a meeting with a competent prosecutor of the State Prosecution. No further details on this meeting have been provided to the public.
