Radic et al: Another hearing closed to the public

28 August 2008  The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina excludes the public during the examination of a former detainee from Vojno at the trial of the four former HVO members.

The State Court rendered a decision ordering the exclusion of the public from during the examination of witness 001, a former detainee at the Vojno detention camp, near Mostar, who testified at the trial of four former members from the Croatian Defence Council, HVO.

Witness 001 is supposed to testify in favour of indictee Marko Radic.

The State Prosecution charges Radic, Dragan Sunjic, Damir Brekalo and Mirko Vracevic with the events in Vojno detention camp, near Mostar, in which men, women and children were detained in 1993 and 1994. The indictment alleges that the detainees were beaten, mistreated, killed, raped and forced to perform hard labour.

Trial Chamber Chairman Stanisa Gluhajic said the Chamber approved the Defence's motion requesting the exclusion of the public, because witness 001 is a victim, who was detained in Vojno, and she would speak about the rape of her closest family members.

According to the official timetable of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina the trial is due to continue on September 1.
