20 July 2007 The 13th meeting of the Association of Court Reporters (AIS) was held in Sarajevo on Tuesday, 17 July.
The meeting was dedicated to how the public can best be kept informed about the trials taking place in the local judicial institutions, and how the current situation can be improved.
Conclusions of the meeting between the AIS and the Court of BiH were presented, together with agreements about the next steps related to cooperation with the Court of BiH, and how it can best provide accurate and timely public information about its work.
AIS members also discussed proposals for the inclusion of a larger number of journalists and media stations in the process of reporting about war crime trials before the Court of BiH, as well as cooperation with journalists and media stations in smaller, local communities who cooperate with the local courts.
The participants also discussed expanding the informal AIS membership to also include journalists who report from the courts on all level in the whole country, and about the strengthening of the Association as an informal advocacy body.
The meeting was attended by representatives of BIRN BiH, Konrad Adenauer Foundation and court reporters from BH Radio 1, BHTV and the Justice Report agency.
