Marek Marczyński - Amnesty International
07 December 2009 I am deeply convinced that the work of the Justice Report is up to the highest standards in journalism.
The information provided is always impartial and objective. The way of reporting is very professional. It's also easy to understand even tough many reports cover very specific legal issues. I very much appreciate that often apart from reporting strictly on what happened in the courtroom also voices of the survivors and the accused (or their legal representatives) are included. Therefore stories are very well balanced and it's up to the reader to make their own conclusion. I know how difficult it is sometimes as we all, including journalist, do not exist in vacuum. Often we have our own opinions on things. This however never affects the work of the Justice Report journalists. I am always impressed by their professionalism and I do appreciate it even more as I know that the issues they cover are often very traumatic.
Your work is extremely important because the Justice Report is probably the most accessible and easy to read source of information on war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Considering the fact that dealing with the past and prosecution of war crimes is still one of the main issues in the country your work is especially important.
Obviously it's something very helpful for researchers and people working in human rights organizations but it is even more so for the survivors. In the absence of any non-judicial mechanisms by the state to establish the truth about the war you have been doing this job to a large extent. In your reports you give voice to the survivors and therefore you acknowledge what happened to them. this is extremely important.
So yes, let me also use this opportunity to say big thank you for being there and doing your great job!
